Between June 1st and 10th the Construction Management MSc and Foundation students from Hereford’s New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) spent five blowy days at the castle learning surveying and monitoring techniques, investigating some of our structural challenges and developing ideas to improve the visitor experience, including feedback and measurement. They presented their findings and recommendations to the Trust at NMITE’s Skylon Campus.
The project gave students genuine hands-on experience, enriched by history; while providing us with valuable insights and ideas for future conservation and visitor development. Part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported Fortifying the Future programme, it introduced the castle to a new audience while benefiting conservation, public engagement and education over ten intense but enjoyable days.
